Good Things to Come Inside and Out

A couple of things about the building to come
It’s February 23rd, Friday morning, as I write this the work continues outside. This has been a pretty eventful week, kids on vacation from school, construction moves ahead quickly now, meetings with the bank and finalizing equipment and product choices. I will make two separate installments this week, the first about some of the cool things you will see in the store and the second about the construction. We never tire of having people ask us how things are coming along, and are always enthusiastic to send them to the site to share some of our experiences. Often we have friends, former customers and total strangers stop by to see how things are developing or asking where is The Green Grocer. It seems the excitement is contagious, even the guys working on the project here are getting excited from all the people who stop and ask them what’s going on. In this update I wanted to share a couple of things about the building to come, both outside and inside. The first would be a drawing of what the building was designed to look like, keep in mind we have increased the original size, but it should give you an idea of the finished product. The next couple of images show you things you will see when you come in the doors. We are particularly excited about our bulk display, with 126 bins it may be the largest bulk display in the state! Another item we are excited about is a kiosk style display computer called Healthnotes. With this touch screen computer you can research vitamins, herbs, foods, diets, and a huge data base of recipes, you can even create a shopping list with it. Normally it isn’t designed to match the store name and logo, however we have worked closely with our sales rep and been fortunate enough to take advantage of a unique offer. As you can see we have a gorgeous kiosk and we think you’re going to love it.

We also appeared in The Sakonnet Times, the local Portsmouth newspaper this week, check it out here; http://www.eastbayri.com/story/307815638923100.php
It's a good article, and we are so grateful for the attention, so many people are interested in what we are doing. The author has done so much to highlight many of the topics of interest in our store, she was given a deluge of information. There are a few inaccuracies such as the idea that I may have worked in a natural foods store in New Hampshire, which was only a few weeks of training, or that we may have meats available from Simmons Farm in Middletown. As much as we would love to carry their meats they do not have enough to sell outside their farm stand or CSA, so be sure to contact them directly, here's thier web adress http://www.simmonsfarmri.com/.
If there are any questions about the content of the article please feel free to contact us and we would be more than happy to answer your questions. Also a big thank-you to Jill who put so much work into writing this article and really took an interest in what we are trying to do. Those of you who know us understand how hard it can be to remember, or write fast enough to keep up with all of the information we give about our passions.
