I have not had access to the computer since Saturday so we are a bit behind on posting this weeks update. I am hoping to have our computer back before Monday, but thus far the particular virus has eluded the folks at the shop. At one point they even called to tell us to come pick it up, then in under an hour called to tell us never mind.
As for the construction side of things the details with thte foundation are finished, like the back filling and the grading, the vapor barrier in the crawl space and the stone. We have mostly spent this past week wrapping up meetings about product selection, a long and cumbersome ordeal.
The first chance I get I will update the site with pictures and more about the week.
It’s Sunday February 11th, and we have our computer back. I have some new pictures and we are ready to take more starting tomorrow when the floor joists go down. If Mother Nature and the Town of Portsmouth are good to us we could have a roof by the beginning of March. In these pictures you will see the grading of the area around the foundation, simply put; the dirt being moved back into the holes. It’s a bit more than that though as Maximum Matt can tell you. With the temperatures what they have been it’s more like moving around little boulders as the dirt is frozen. So it has to be broken up quite a bit before it can be laid down. There will be a lot of settling in the spring as the dirt thaws and “melts” into all the spaces in the frozen earth. Once the interior of the foundation was leveled out sheets of plastic were laid for the vapor barrier and stone was laid down over the top. In the last picture you can see the stone scattered about the inside of the foundation and around the area on the outside. See you next week!
Yes, the cat is actually off the ground in that picture. I call it "Hopping Matt", get it? (Hopping Mad)
