On Monday August 13th at approximately 6pm lightning hit ground at the front of the property hitting a tree and the car of a student going to the tutoring facility, A Great Place to Learn, located in the first building. From the house it looked as though a bomb had been set off and the burst of light was brilliant. The lightning then traveled through the ground and into our internet cable connection which not only disabled our access to the internet but corrupted our back office server. This computer runs the show, so to speak, it was our database for all things that happen in the store and it communicated with our cash registers. Unfortunately this surge also took out 2 out of the 3 cash registers that we normally run on.
People who have visited over the previous few days have seen us make slow progress back. We were not able to use the phones or process credit cards initially but we are able to now process credit cards and receive phone calls. Unfortunately we are still running on 1 register and cannot process cards utilizing the debit function. This was a crippling blow to our 11 week old business. We appreciate all of your support and thank the many of you that have had kind words. We hope that between the computer experts and the insurance companies we can be up and running fully again sooner rather than later. We thank you all in advance for your patience during this time.
