Choosing Your Daily Diet

What's Your Daily Choice?

Organic

Are you dedicated to eating organic whenever possible? This would mean only purchasing organic produce, and making an effort to eat in organic restaurants. Even searching them out when on vacation. Know that the choice to eat organic positively impacts the planet and it's your way of making a difference. You can enjoy The Green Grocer’s produce department—it is the largest produce selection in the Aquidneck Island area that is 100% organic. For you, we could be one–stop shopping because you can purchase organic meat and dairy. We choose organic because it not only affects the planet, but also our health.

Healthy

Are you committed to feeding yourself and your family the healthiest food possible? You’re not exclusively vegetarian, but aware of the nutritional value of fresh food and make an effort to avoid additives and pesticides. You’ll know that when you shop at The Green Grocer, that the products have been selected with the highest regard for your health. We hope you will particularly appreciate the organic meat and dairy products we have selected.

Vegetarian

Do you choose to eat a vegetarian diet? Your diet consists of not eating any animal products such as red meat, poultry, fish and shellfish. You may however eat dairy products and eggs. At The Green Grocer, you will find an extensive selection of products to support your diet; at least 70% of the store is vegetarian!

Vegan

A diet that is strictly vegan does not eat animal products of any type including dairy products, honey, animal gelatin, and all other foods of animal origin. Your diet may take the vegetarian approach one step further with an ethical belief regarding the treatment of animals. Not only might you avoid animal products in foods, you might also avoid the use of leather, wool, fur, and silk in clothing, and upholstery. Having access to The Green Grocer you are able to eat well and live well without compromising this philosophy.

Wheat/Gluten-Free

Are you on a diet that restricts the consumption of gluten? Gluten is the protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and oats. If you suffer from a gluten intolerance disorder called celiac disease and have experience intestinal discomfort when ingesting products containing gluten, then you know this is a lifestyle change. You may have never had so many products to choose from; The Green Grocer is committed to making clean healthy products available for you.

Nut-FreePeople who are allergic to nuts must avoid all nuts and nut products from their diet. Obvious foods to be avoided have the name of the nut mentioned in their name e.g. peanut butter, but for other products it is not so obvious. For a nut allergy sufferer even if the product does not contain nuts but is made in the same factory as something that does there is a possibility of cross contamination which could be fatal. We have searched for great nut free alternatives for kids and adults at The Green Grocer.

Raw & Living Foods

If you choose to eat only raw foods your diet consists of organic fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, oils, and sprouted grains. You believe that this diet is the best for health, longevity, and that   uncooked foods (not heated above 116 degrees) have a higher nutrient value and contain enzymes which are vital to the body for the digestion and absorption of food. You’re passionate that cooking food reduces some vitamin and mineral availability; destroys some enzymes, interferes with digestion; and may weaken the power of antioxidants and the immune system. At The Green Grocer you can find the largest selection of organic fruits, vegetables, and nuts, not to mention packaged cereals, crackers, and sweets.
